How to create and maintain forwarding-only and full email accounts

A. Creating a new forwarding-only email account

C. Create full email account or change a forwarding-only email account to a full email account (with or without forwarding)

Please note that all DC's will be issued a FORWARDING-ONLY email address when they start. This means they will NOT be able to login through Zimbra to view all emails. If after some time a DC request a full email account with access through Zimbra please follow the instructions for C. below.

A. Creating a new forwarding-only email account


1. In the LAPD click on the email address of the person you would like to setup the account for
2. Once it loads, click on the check mark image next to "Create Email Account?" and "Forwarding-only Email?"
3. Next under "Forward to:" be sure to select an email address that the emails should forward to
4. Leave a small note about setting up the account in the comments section
5. Click on "Assigned" and wait for it to load

B. Check and change forwarding email address


1. Under "Change Forwarding Address:" check to see if the email address that forwarding will be changed to is on the list
2. If it is NOT on the list be sure to add it to the persons profile in NB first (refreshing LAPD once complete)
3. Once you have added or located the email address which forwarding will be changed to, go ahead and select that email
4. Leave a small note about changing the forwarding email address
5. Click on "Assigned" and wait for it to load

C. Create full email account or change a forwarding-only email account to a full email account (with or without forwarding)


1. First you must completely delete the forwarding-only email account (if any setup) by typing in DELETE and clicking "Delete Now"

2. Once deleted (if applicable), click on the check mark image next to "Create Email Account?" (do NOT select "Forwarding-only Email?")
3. Be sure to copy down the email address and new password to provide to the user so they can login through Zimbra
4. Next you can select an email to continue forwarding emails to or you can keep as "Do Not Forward"
4. Leave a small note about changes made to the account in the comments section
5. Click on "Assigned" and wait for it to load
